Tonkin Park Industrial Estate

One of the first projects acquired by Birchmead Property Group in 1986.

This 25 hectare parcel of land developed into 41 lots was subject to soil contamination as a result of historical work activities of others. The project involved a substantial remediation exercise in consultation and collaboration with environmental authorities and the local government to enable the subdivision and sale of newly-created industrial lots.

Remediation of the soil was undertaken and a containment cell constructed on a small portion of the site to prevent any further impact on the environment. This enabled the majority of the land to be re-developed for re-use as a safe and sustainable employment precinct, benefitting the community with new employment opportunities.
